Wedding in Southbury, CT

The Cornucopia Inn B&B in Southbury, CT was the setting for this wedding on September 25th.

The bride carried a bouquet of lavender roses, white ranunculus,
a few white dendrobium orchids, purple lisianthus, silver bruni protea, green hypericum berries,  with a whispy feather here and there.

A few white dendrobium orchids with little whisps of feathers were designed to be placed in the bride's hair.

The two sets of gates
that opened into the
pool area where the
ceremony
took place
 were decorated with
 curly willow branches
with many different varieties
of purple, lavender, white and green orchids with spanish moss.

The bride handcrafted seating cards for her guests for the tables in the reception that was held on the grounds under a tent.
Half of the tables had simple purple phaleonopsis orchids placed on moss in glass        cubes and the other half of the tables had  glass cubes overflowing with lavender roses, purple lisianthus, green hydrangea, seeded  eucalyptus, purple trachelium, purple anemones and green button mums.

Simple and Elegant Wedding on Long Island Sound

The weather couldn't have been more beautiful September 18th 2010 as a setting for this gorgeous wedding on the Long Island Sound in Guilford, CT.

The ceremony was at the St. Thomas More Chapel at Yale University in New Haven. Simple cylindrical vases of calla lilies with curly willow branches enhanced the altar without interfering with the elegant design of the chapel.

The bride carried a hand tied bouquet of white & eggplant dendrobium orchids with white, dusty pink and eggplant calla lilies.
The bridesmaids carried similar bouquets wrapped in contrasting violet and plum ribbon to match the dresses. In addition to a small amount of mini green hydrangea, seeded eucalyptus and bear grass was used in the bouquets.

All were accented with crystals on bear grass loops.

Inside the Guilford Yacht Club tall cylinders were filled with eggplant purple dendrobium orchids and underwater lights.
Lower cylinders had green floating candles, a few small green and purple orchids accented with a large purple phaleonopsis orchid bloom.  Absolutely stunning, simple design.

Outside, with a view of the sound
more cylinders were placed on the tables.

For the entry table in the lobby we created a beautiful curly willow arrangement loaded with spanish and reindeer moss. Attached to the branches were eggplant dendrobium orchids,  violet mokara orchids and green mini cymbidium orchids

Bridesmaid bouquet of "mango" calla lilies, creme de la creme  and cherry brandy roses with hypericum berries
The Fall Season has begun a bit early this year. Since August we already have had brides choosing colors that have traditionally been chosen for Autumn Weddings. The hues are more subtle than the full blown traditional Fall colors but are rich and beautiful.

Wedding on a Farm in Litchfield, CT

Bridesmaid's Bouquets

Wreath on barn door
Local Farm grown flowers
Bride's Bouquet
Guest tables inside the barn
What a better setting for a CT wedding than a farm in the Litchfield Hills. After many days of near or above 90 degree temperatures and the threat of a hurricane the day turned out to be gorgeous!
The Bride was very hands on and wanted to do the table centerpieces-she enlisted help from the Groom and her Mother, the results were lovely. She ordered local grown farm flowers through our shop and placed the flowers into vintage milkglass vases she had collected.

The bridesmaids wore light turquoise and the groomsmen had matching ties. The Bride's bouquet was made from off white garden roses, hydrangea, a few red ranunculus, zinnias and hyprericum berries with peach stock and bouvardia. The bridesmaids carried a mix of burgundy, red, orange, coral, peach and a bit of yellow. Most of the flowers we used were farm flowers grown in CT and New Jersey.
Two grapevine wreaths adorned the barn doors. Blue glass mason jars (also put together by the Bride) hung from shepherd's hooks for the ceremony.
