Earth Blossoms
Another day Earth Blossoms travels from the Litchfield Hills
to the CT shoreline.
On May 18th we started with a gorgeous rustic
wedding at a barn in Litchfield, CT
The simple bridal bouquet was in what I call a “just picked”
style in yellows, whites and a splash of red. The attendants carried bouquets in
yellows and whites only. I especially liked the wrap on the stems which
consisted of a ribbon with a French knotted twine overlay. The centerpieces
were in a similar mix of flowers and colors in authentic aged mason jars.
Our second wedding of the day was at another lovely
Litchfield Hills location. The grounds
of the Inn at Mt. Pleasant Farm. This bride was fortunate to pick a day
with no rain and a bit of cloud cover so that she was able to have an open air
event.
I made the most gorgeous bridal bouquet full and lush with
peonies and all kinds of other complimentary flowers. The tables once again had
mason jars featuring flowers mostly in pinks and corals but included some
other accents.
Our third wedding of the day brings us back to the shoreline
at an elegant venue The Woodwinds in Branford. The bride stayed at an Inn
located in Madison where we dropped off
the all purple bridal bouquet along with the bridesmaids mostly yellow w/ a
pop of purple, The bridesmaids dresses were deep purple. We did gorgeous purple
and yellow centerpieces in our silver compote bowls.
Our last wedding of the day was at an elegant Litchfield County venue Crystal
Peak. Members of our team decorated the arch for the ceremony. This bride had a
cluster style bouquet of callas, roses, ranunculus, and hydrangea in whites w/
a touch of blue and green.
On May 25th we were honored to do the wedding
flowers for a very talented photographer’s own wedding. Dreams of having a nice
day for an outdoor ceremony and
reception were soon
destroyed by a change in the weather forecast. At the
beginning of the week our local weather
reporters ALL stated that Saturday was going to be the pick of the
weekend a glorious day that one even called hitting the jackpot! Well, the day
eneded up a cold and rainy windy day totally opposite from what was predicted.
There was even snow falling slightly North of here!
The setting for this wedding was on the property of an
antique dealer. A lovely yard with a pond. The gorgeous birch arbor that the
bride’s Father constructed was moved into the barn style building and made a
stunning focal point for the ceremony. I made a thick garland out of babies
breath and hung a few moss balls from the structure.
The bride carried a gorgeous poof of pink astilbe as did her
attendants.

We used astilbe in the boutonnieres, corsages and in the birch
covered centerpieces for the tables. The long tables in the tent had tall
silver flutes with mounds of babies breath with small BO light sets on them. In
addition to the birch containers of pink astilbe we used tin cans with strips
of moss and birch containeing either babies breath or moss like mounds.
Interspersed were small cloches of moss, some babies breath and moss balls, votives placed on birch slices as well as wine bottles that had been
painted silver and contained candles. 
I made a special birch covered vase to hold the bride’s
bouquet at her seat with her and the Groom’s initials carved in it.
The rain may have been cold and relentless but it could not take away the warmth of this
wedding.
The next day finds us down on the shoreline for two weddings.
one at a venue I had never been to
called the Incarnation Center-a camp.
We did very natural eco- friendly flowers.
Our journey continued and we once again were happy to do a
wedding at the gorgeous Eolia Mansion at Harkness memorial State park in
Waterford just down the street from where I grew up. A gorgeous day with some
blue sky sun clouds a sprinkle of rain a gust of wind but our couple was able
to have their ceremony out in the amphitheater . We used beautiful hues of
blues and lavenders and everything matched perfectly.
Our last wedding of May was a gorgeous blush wedding the
reception at Famington Gardens. The bride’s bouquet was mostly blush w/ a pop of raspberry ranunculus and some ivory all in peonies, garden roses, ranunculus and roses. Her Maid of Honor was also done with all blush and ivory with a bit of raspberry ranunculus. The other bridesmaids were mostly ivory with some blush. It was gorgeous!
The flower girls carried pomanders of blush spray roses.
